December 18th is a special day in a few ways. It is my older Sister’s B’day and also the day Loz and I emigrated to Canada to start a new life………yes 34 yrs ago today we came to Montreal, to about 5ft of snow at that time. Which was the start of the Garrison Family moving overseas….Well that’s my memory maybe i’m wrong… i’m sure somebody with a better memory than mine will correct me… I thought it was a great thing to see snow everywhere snow banks so high, it looked so nice and I actually enjoyed skiing and tobogganing back in 1977 and for quite a few years after that… As for 34 years later we only have a sprinkling of snow today and now I’m not a great fan of the cold snowy weather, I find it very cold and wish to be in warmer climates when ever I can, quite envious of the rest of my Southern Hemisphere family with the warm climate all year round….
Also with family growing up and spending time in warmer climates I have gotten away from the Christmas festivities that go with the Christmas season so something else Loz and I did last night on the Eve of the 18th December was to go the Upper Canada Village which quite a few of you will remember. It is a place we would visit when ever anybody came for a holiday. A little village that goes back to the 1860s and creates village life as it was back in the day… Emma also worked there as an interpreter one summer. So for the month of December they light the whole village up with thousands of lights and have sleigh rides and train rides around this little village. Have to say it looked very nice and we enjoyed a festive night it was quite cold but it brought back some memories of time spent there….

An odd coincidence happened on the eve of Dec 18th. When we came home from Upper Canada Village we stopped in at a local Pub for a drink and something to eat… as we were visiting with some friends a group of about 12 people came in, they had the room at the back booked for a family gathering. They happened to be the family that Loz worked for when we came to Canada so Dec 18, 2011 turned out to be quite an ironic evening for Laurence and I…
Happy Holidays to all and to all a good night… looking forward to the skype chat with everybody that is able to make it on Christmas eve or Christmas day what ever time it may be for you……..
Love to all Paula.
Looking forward to the Family Reunion hope it really does happen with as many family members as we can…
